Re: Site shutdown today from .RAR virus files uploaded?

I believe these are just some Kids who got nothing useful to do other than spend their time at the keyboard.
With their IT knowledge they could actually do something useful and even earn money. But I guess they are missing one important part.....education
Pink Floyd comes to my mind...Another Brick in the wall
"we don't need no education, we don't need no.........just another Prick in the wall"

Something I see deteriorating gradually as kids are pushed into the virtual world instead. Push this button, it will write a complete essay, push that button it will solve your math homework and and.....I'm sure you know.
Such outlook is quite depressing.

Yes, big time, downloaded a rar. file noticed it was possibly a virus so deleted it, the minute I deleted it, it took over my computer completely, sent me a message say I shouldn't have deleted his file, took most of this afternoon to get rid of it. It was a bad one. Sending me messages, next message I can remember was " you've been hacked bro, nothing you can do", then started changing my desktop wallpaper to gay porn, then something about autism, next one was the American dollar with the all-seeing eye. Everything I would do to try and fight it, the virus would shut my computer completely down, requiring me to manually restart.

If this happens to anyone, I'm not a computer expert but this worked for me, is to look for files or folders with the date the hacking started and delete them and try and do a system restore, seems to work for me. This last virus had some sort of shutdown virus, so went into task master and apparently found it and deleted it enough to do a system restore, then changed all my passwords again. This last hack job was the worst I have seen, seems it was trying to counter everything I tried, even sending me a message on my screen "that's not going to work" then would shut down my computer. This is even with Malwarebytes and regular windows security.

Once a week I scan folders with antivirus. Although it may seem redundant, malicious files are often found in the "Temp" folder. This folder is for temporary files and there are two versions: one is visible in the Windows operating system, and the other is located in hidden folders. And I check these two TEMP folders regularly and delete unnecessary files manually.

Dmnik a large portion of RAR files come from you (example) without any descriptions, even though we've asked you to add descriptions to your posts in the past. How does that help people trust our site when you continue to create posts that have no effort or explanation?

And for your information, we have automatic scanning of all uploaded files, but Mrtools's computer was compromised, and because Mrtools has moderator capabilities the hacker would "edit" people's posts using Mrtools's account, and upload viruses that bypassed our security with Mrtools's mod privileges.

I've been working with Mrtools today and we are trying (together) to fix this issue and ensure this site is more secure.

For now, we won't be discussing our security measures publicly but rest assured the site is safe.

Any new RAR file uploads from today will be removed and I will be inspecting each and every new ZIP file to ensure they are free of malicious contents.

Jimmy.

That is wild dude so a hacker took control of your machine and was typing/chatting to you? Sounds like some ransomware type of virus man
