Not now man, not until we've finished the security updates and making sure we make it impossible for this to happen again.

For now I'm going into every RAR file I can get my hands on, manually taking them apart and re-uploading them as ZIP files.

If there's a specific file or RAR you need just let me know.

i guess i was the only victim of this. I downloaded the rar from the XARD topic, and they got into my broker account. It was the only thing they got into.

I had a anti virus but i guess that didn't do it's job, it didn't detect anything. So i really didn't knew at first.

Later weird stuff started happening with the broker account, problems with the access, and weird mails saying i was trying to change stuff on the account, but i didn't knew if they were phishing mails or real from the broker. The broker was no help, they have worst security then gmail and even refused to lock the account as i requested.

The hackers tried to withdraw the money but that they couldn't do, so they got bored and eventually made some dodgecoin trades making me lose 2 dollars. I closed the acc with the brokers and got my money out.

Several long hours later using all sorts of antivirus and anti malware, changing all passwords and formating the PC i guess it's over

Be careful, and now i need a new broker.

You may have missed some security options though buried in the endless options, firewalls shouldn't allow anything to enter, but could be a high end one running bots and such

i had ESET internet security, it has a firewall, i don't know much about the endless options it surely has, but i also changed nothing. It either sucks or just happened to not pick that one up. As much as i know no one application gets everything.

Honestly was more pissed with the broker, their security is shit, even gmail wouldn't let someone acess my accounts from other places and would report it as suspicious, they didn't had or coudn't access a list of ips/machines that was inside the account. Didn't blocked the acc as i asked because it was just "weird stuff we will investigate". And in a later stage let them endless times try to change profile, bank account, etc... and set on their asses and never blocked the account until i had to get really pissed on the phone. Complete amateurs, could have avoid most of it.

Hang on not doubting you just want to know how you are certain your broker account got exposed via the rar files? Cos I downloaded two or three of those rar files and opened them up just saw lots of screenshot files and even extracted a few onto my desktop but the pics wouldnt open but no one got into my broker or anything else and I was trading at the time and even left my machine on... scanned all my files after Mrtools or Jimmy's post about it and it said there was a trojan in the archive. Sounds like you were already having some security issues perhaps your e-mail has been guessed... what antivirus you running? ESET internet security you said? Is that any good?

What broker was this? I extracted one of those RAR files into a folder and it got stopped by Windows Defender on Windows 10.

Have you checked if your e-mail address has been compromised yet at have i been pwned checker? Sounds like these dudes were in your e-mail or pc already!

because i had ESET, windows defender works but on the background, it doesn't actively scan. I guess i should have just used defender :/
My email is ok, you can see who logged in to it and from what place, i also get an email every time i log in, no one got in. It would also be worst as acessing the mail they could do a lot worst.

The broker is XTB, as is in my profile next to every post of mine, that probably wasn't the smartest idea and how they went for it imediately. I have no idea what happened, how they got in, no expert there sorry, but it was no coincidence, it happened as soon as i opened that rar. At first i had no idea but he even posted it again, i saw what was in it, and then i talked to Jimmy and he confirmed my suspicions.

i didn't knew that website and my email says it was pwend back in feb 2019, i had no idea. But i guess it was so long ago it's most likely unrelated to this.
